Just like in my last "Dress Diaries" post, today I'll be showing you one of the dresses from my ever growing collection, where I purchased it, and where/how I've worn it.
Today's dress:
If you're wondering if that is a church bathroom selfie, it is. I can't help where the best full-length mirrors are located......Anyway, this is a jewel print dress I found at an H&M in Denmark. Last year, we spent Christmas and New Years with our dear friends who live there (in Denmark, not in the H&M, just to clarify). We had the greatest time. In fact, I wish we were there now. Unfortunately, we're not, but I still have this dress to remember the trip by.
As you all already know, I love dressing on-theme whenever possible. So I wore my jewel print dress when we visited a very old castle that housed the Danish royal jewels. We saw chandeliers, jewelry, crowns, artwork, vintage royal furniture, statues, and basically everything else you could imagine a royal family owning. We even saw real royal guards. The whole experience was surreal to me.
Denmark doesn't get as painfully cold as St. Louis, but you definitely had to bundle up. So I wore it with what I call my "Shawn Hunter" jacket, a pink scarf, and my floral Doc Martens. The dress was such a busy print that I worried wearing the floral shoes would make me look crazy, but I actually ended up liking it. Plus a Danish woman we didn't know said she liked my shoes, so I immediately felt validated in my decision.
We went to see the statue of The Little Mermaid (a tribute to Hans
Christian Andersen) the same day, so she also got to see my dress. She
was too busy looking out at the ocean for her prince, but I think she
would've appreciated the jewel print. I mean, she loves gadgets and
gizmos aplenty, and whoz-its and whats-its galore.
Such a magical trip. I can't wait for us to go back someday! ;)
