Dress Diaries

People are often asking me  where I get my dresses. I've been called "Ms. Frizzle" because I seem to have a themed dress for every occasion (Magic School Bus reference for those not in the know). And while I don't really have a dress for every occasion YET, it is something I'm working toward.

These "Dress Diary" posts will each highlight one dress from my growing collection. I'll tell you where I found it, and a story about how I've worn it or where I've worn it to.

Today's dress:

This dress is very dear to my heart. I purchased it from a vintage store in Belleville called "My Vintage Addiction" that, sadly, has closed since. I was a frequent shopper there.

My love of all things vintage led me to throwing a 1950's Christmas party at our house 3 years ago. Everyone was asked to dress according to the time period, and this dress was my choice.

That party remains one of my favorite memories of my life. Our tiny house was packed with at least 50 of our friends. We ate a traditional American Christmas dinner, listened to old records,  did a vintage Christmas gift exchange (which was hilarious), and Bryan even set up a high tech photo booth.

(If we are Facebook friends, you can see more of these pictures in my 1950's Christmas Album)

Here's a more full-length look at the dress (photo from my friend Nicole!):

For the party, I wore my dress with fake pearls, black tights, red lipstick and a black bow in my hair. The thing that I love about this dress is that it's not costume-y and I can wear it on a regular day too. The material is very warm like a sweater though, so it is strictly for cold weather.

I'm looking forward to sharing the rest of my collection with you guys! :)
